It has come to the attention of TRUBLUE Auto Belays that the TRUBLUE Auto Belay has been used as a zip line braking device.  This is not an approved usage of the TRUBLUE Auto Belay, and its use as such can result in serious injury to participants.

It has been demonstrated in laboratory testing, that when such an impact deceleration load is applied to a TruBlue, the device brakes far too severely and may result in:
1. Potential injuries to participants (related to rapid decelerations), and/or
2. Damage to the device, potentially rendering it inoperable.

Use of the TRUBLUE Auto Belay in this manner renders the warranty void.  TRUBLUE Auto Belays is not responsible for any damages, injuries or death resulting from this misuse of the device.

During this year’s OutDoor Show (14 to 17 July 2011), the TRUBLUE Auto Belay received an OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD – the most prestigious award honoring quality in this industry. A total of 301 products from 23 different countries from around the world took part in the innovative award competition. After their judging session in Hannover on 28 and 29 June 2011, the jurors named 46 award winners, including the TRUBLUE Auto Belay.

Manufacturers, developers and designers were called upon to submit their new product developments focusing on the topic of the outdoors in eight different categories: Apparel/helmets/shoes, Backpacks/travel luggage, Mountain-climbing equipment, Camping equipment, Sleeping bags, Accessories, Products of high ecological and sustainable value and Material innovations. In addition to the evaluation criterion of design quality, the judges also took into account such other aspects as degree of innovation, workmanship, choice of materials, environmental compatibility, sustainability, functionality, utility, safety, trendsetting character and brand value/branding.

The TRUBLUE Auto Belay has won the prestigious “red dot” award for high quality design. Only products that clearly stand out from comparable products due to their outstanding design receive the soughtafter quality seal from the international jury.

The newest version of the TRUBLUE Auto Belay – TRUBLUE 2 – is now available at the Eldorado Climbing Walls Store.

Based on customer feedback, the descent rate of the TRUBLUE 2 has been reduced.

The TRUBLUE 2 is also available in two webbing lengths:

• 41 ft (12.5 m)
• 24.6 ft (7.5 m)

The shorter webbing will further reduce the descent rate for users with shorter walls. 

The price of the TRUBLUE 2 is $2,195.  The TRUBLUE 2 is expected to begin shipping at the end of June.

SHORTER WEBBING ALSO AVAILABLE FOR THE ORIGINAL TRUBLUE
In addition, the 24.6 ft (7.5 m) webbing is now available for sale for users with shorter walls.  Used on the original TRUBLUE, this will also reduce the descent rate of the unit for shorter walls.  The webbing can be replaced by the owner in the field and can be purchased for $159.99 at Eldorado Climbing Walls Store.

Owners of the original TRUBLUE will also be able to send in their units for an OPTIONAL retrofit to a slower descent rate.  Details of this retrofit will be available soon.

TRUBLUE auto belays require an annual re-certification in order to comply with safety standards for fall arrest devices.  Re-certification is also necessary to maintain the warranty on the device.

For US/Canada customers, auto belays can be sent to the Authorized TRUBLUE Service Center in Boulder CO. Additional fees may apply for non-warranty parts, including webbing and side covers.

TRUBLUE was just awarded the 2010 Brass Ring Product Innovation Award at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo in Orlando, FL.

The TRUBLUE Auto Belay took 2nd place for the Best New Product in the “Technology Applied to Amusements” category.  

This category represents new products that demonstrate the application of a technology that has not previously been used for the same function that the technology accomplishes in the new product.  The TRUBLUE Auto Belay came in second in a field of 16 new products.

TRUBLUE Auto Belay has received final certification for European safety standard BS EN 341 “Personal protective equipment against falls from a height. Descender devices.” TRUBLUE Auto Belays will now carry the CE mark, a mandatory conformance mark certifying that the TRUBLUE has met European Union safety requirements.

With the final approval of CE certification, the TRUBLUE is now available for sale in the European market.
